Basketball Recap: Creighton Prep Falls Short Against Ranked Westview

On Friday, Creighton Prep faced Westview in a battle between two of the state's top teams. The Creighton Prep Junior Jays were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 51-50 to the Westview Wolverines. The Junior Jays were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Wolverines earlier this season, when they won 60-57.

Creighton Prep lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Trinell Parker, who went 7 of 11 en route to 16 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kyle Tubrick, who posted ten points.

Westview got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Amir Martin out in front who went 6 for 13 on his way to 17 points. Another player making a difference was Tayvin Zephier-Murphy, who went 5 of 9 en route to 11 points and five rebounds.

Creighton Prep's defeat ended a five-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 10-4. As for Westview, they pushed their record up to 13-1 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season.

Creighton Prep is taking a road trip to challenge Omaha Central at 7:30 p.m. on January 24th. Omaha Central will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something Creighton Prep surely won't give up without a fight. Westview has already played their next game, a 68-61 victory against Papillion-LaVista South on the 21st.
