Basketball Recap: Pompano Beach Golden Tornadoes vs. Coral Springs Charter Panthers

The Pompano Beach Golden Tornadoes's game last Monday was a tough loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They enjoyed a cozy 50-34 victory over Coral Springs Charter. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Pompano Beach also won the last time the pair played back in February of 2023.

It was another big night for Jonathan Berwig, who scored 18 points along with three steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which he has scored at least a third of Pompano Beach's points. Devin Watson was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with six rebounds and five steals.

Several Panthers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jalen McGregor, who scored eight points along with 11 rebounds and three blocks. McGregor also grabbed two steals for the first time this season. Another player making a difference was Michael Chin, who scored seven points along with 13 rebounds.

Pompano Beach has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a massive bump to their 10-10 record this season. As for Coral Springs Charter, their defeat was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-16.

Pompano Beach's road trip will continue as they head out to face the Bulldogs at 9:30 a.m. on January 27th. Hopefully South Broward focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 18 last Monday. As for Coral Springs Charter, they will look to defend their home court on Saturday against the Pirates at 2:00 p.m.
