Football Recap: Monterey Turns Things Around After Road Loss + How To Watch

There's no place like home for Monterey, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. They snuck past the Caprock Longhorns with a 34-28 win on Thursday. The victory continues a trend for the Plainsmen in their matchups with the Longhorns: they've now won three in a row.

Darron Moore produced another solid effort rushing for 150 yards and two touchdowns, while also picking up 37 receiving yards. He has become a key player for Monterey: the team is undefeated when he posts at least 80 rushing yards, but 2-5 otherwise.

Monterey didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Jordan Evans and Terance King.

When it comes to explaining why Caprock lost, don't look at Juan De La Cruz. Despite the final result, he rushed for 104 yards and a pair of TDs on only nine carries, and also threw for 158 yards and two touchdowns. De La Cruz got the majority of those rushing yards when he took off on a run that went for an incredible 62 yards.

The win got Monterey back to even at 5-5. As for Caprock, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-7.

Coming up, Monterey will square off against Americas at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Caprock does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
