Preview: Queensbury Spartans vs. Lansingburgh Knights

The Queensbury Spartans will head out on the road to face off against the Lansingburgh Knights at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Last Friday, Queensbury had to suffer through a rough 47-13 loss at the hands of Bethlehem Central. While losing is never fun, Queensbury can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New York football rankings (they are ranked 293rd, while Bethlehem Central is ranked 105th).

Although Queensbury took the loss, they still got scores from Ian Reynolds and Zavry Ward.

Meanwhile, Lansingburgh was the victim of a tough 51-28 defeat at the hands of Mechanicville/Hoosic Valley on Saturday. Lansingburgh has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Israel Baker, who rushed for 16 yards and a touchdown, and also threw for 146 yards and a touchdown on only 12 passes.

Queensbury's defeat ended a five-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 4-4. As for Lansingburgh, their loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their overall record down to 5-3.

Friday's matchup might be decided on the ground as these two are both standouts in the run game. Queensbury has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 253.2 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Lansingburgh struggles in that department as they've been averaging 186.1 per game. It's looking like Friday's contest might have some serious battles in the trenches.
