Softball Game Preview: Myrtle Hawks vs. North Pontotoc Vikings

The Myrtle Hawks will start their season against the North Pontotoc Vikings. First pitch is scheduled at 9:00 p.m. on Thursday.

North Pontotoc is headed into Thursday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Monday. They might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 16-14 to East Webster, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior.

North Pontotoc's loss dropped their record down to 1-3.

As for Myrtle, they've got a clean slate this season. Last year, they had a stellar season and finished 24-7.

Myrtle was able to grind out a solid victory over North Pontotoc in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, winning 6-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for Myrtle since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
