Basketball Recap: Perry Central Continues Home Dominance on Thursday

Perry Central hadn't done well against St. Patrick recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Perry Central Bulldogs walked away with a 53-41 victory over the St. Patrick Fighting Irish. For the Bulldogs, this counts as revenge for the 68-57 win the Fighting Irish walked away with the last time they faced one another back in January of 2024.

Austin Jones was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 18 points and 13 rebounds. Aydin Lawrence was another key player, putting up 13 points and three steals.

Perry Central pushed their record up to 8-9 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.3 points per game. As for St. Patrick, their loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 8-13.

Coincidentally, Perry Central and St. Patrick will both be playing St. Stanislaus the next time they take the court. Perry Central will host St. Stanislaus at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, while St. Patrick will head out to face them at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
