Softball Recap: Paint Valley Bearcats vs. Huntington Huntsmen

Paint Valley was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 14th straight defeat. They lost 15-8 to the Huntington Huntsmen. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Paint Valley of the 13-1 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture on April 10th.

Delainey Mannion made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-1. The team also got some help courtesy of Raelei Mettler, who scored a run while going 1-for-1.

Even though they lost, Paint Valley hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. That's the fewest strikeouts they've managed all season.

On Huntington's side, they let Savannah Bushatz and Rylee Nolan loose on the outfield. Bushatz went 4-for-5 with two runs, two doubles, and a triple, while Nolan scored four runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4. Bushatz is on a roll when it comes to hits, as she's now hit three or more in the last six games she's played. Another player making a difference was Leah McCloskey, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4.

Paint Valley's defeat dropped their record down to 2-18. As for Huntington, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 13-9.

Paint Valley will head out on the road to face off against Zane Trace at 5:15 p.m. on Monday. Paint Valley is facing Zane Trace at the right time seeing as Zane Trace is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Huntington, they will look to defend their home field on Monday against Piketon at 5:15 p.m.
