Softball Game Preview: Moline Maroons vs. Biggsville West Central Heat

The Moline Maroons will be taking part in a tournament against the Biggsville West Central Heat at 3:30 p.m. on Friday.

Things were looking good for Moline after they put the first run on the board on Thursday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They fell just short of Sterling by a score of 13-12. That's two games in a row now that the Maroons have lost by just one run.

Kaylee Dennis and Emersyn Rasso stepped up to the plate in a big way. Dennis went 2-for-5 with two runs, two doubles, and two RBI, while Rasso went 4-for-5 with three runs and one stolen base. The team also got some help courtesy of Nicole Carman, who went 2-for-4 with one triple and two RBI.

Meanwhile, Biggsville West Central waltzed into their matchup on Thursday with 13 straight wins... but they left with 14. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 5-4 W against the Spartans.

Addie Seitz was excellent, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with one RBI.

Biggsville West Central pushed their record up to 27-3 with the victory, which was their ninth straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.1 runs on average over those games. As for Moline, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-17 record this season.

Friday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Moline hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .325. However, it's not like Biggsville West Central struggles in that department as they've averaged .383.
