Recap: Fike Demons vs. South Johnston Trojans

The Fike Demons had already won six in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 21.8 points), and they went ahead and made it seven on Tuesday. They strolled past South Johnston with points to spare, taking the game 55-41. Given Fike's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 109th, while the Trojans are ranked 307th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Jewel Brewington was her usual excellent self, scoring 21 points along with six assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Kylar Horvath, who scored seven points along with eight rebounds.

Fike pushed their record up to 14-3 with that victory, which was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 51.6 points per game. As for South Johnston, their loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 9-9.

Fike will take on the Spartans at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Smithfield-Selma comes in still looking for their first win of the season. As for South Johnston, they will head out on the road to square off against the Golden Falcons at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully C.B. Aycock focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 28 last Friday.
