Softball Game Preview: Hall-Dale Bulldogs vs. Monmouth Academy Mustangs

The Hall-Dale Bulldogs will head out on the road to take on the Monmouth Academy Mustangs at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with Hall-Dale sitting on three straight victories and Monmouth Academy on 12.

On Thursday, Hall-Dale beat Oak Hill 5-2.

Lucy Gray made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run over seven innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with one run and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jade Graham, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Hall-Dale hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least four batters in four consecutive matchups.

Meanwhile, Monmouth Academy faced Lisbon in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. The Mustangs put the hurt on the Greyhounds with a sharp 9-1 win. Considering the Mustangs have won nine games by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Hall-Dale's victory was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 11-1. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.9 runs over those games. As for Monmouth Academy, their record now sits at 12-0.

Everything went Hall-Dale's way against Monmouth Academy in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, as Hall-Dale made off with a 10-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bulldogs since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
