Baseball Recap: Scotts Valley Comes Up Short

Scotts Valley extended their losing streak to three on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 10-13 in the process. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 2-1 heartbreaker at the hands of the Soquel Knights. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Knights this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 4-2 back in April.

Scotts Valley saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Bryce McDonnell, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one run.

As for Soquel, the victory was the 11th in a row for them, bringing their record up to 21-1. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games.

On Soquel's side, Dylan Hull looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Hull has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Soquel beat Scotts Valley by a score of 4-1 on Friday.
