Football Game Preview: Lexington Tigers vs. Springfield Yellow Jackets + Official Tickets

The Lexington Tigers will challenge the Springfield Yellow Jackets at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Lexington is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Haywood, sneaking past 25-22. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Tigers have posted since September 26, 2024.

Amarion Arnold was a one-man wrecking crew as he rushed for 140 yards and one score while picking up 7.4 yards per carry. Those 140 rushing yards gave him a new career-high.

Meanwhile, Springfield waltzed into their contest on Thursday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Red Hawks 35-7. Given the Yellow Jackets' advantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee football rankings (they are ranked 40th, while the Red Hawks are ranked 228th) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

Lexington better keep an eye on Kason Woodson. He was instrumental in Springfield's win, throwing for 218 yards and three touchdowns on only 16 passes, while also punching in one TD on the ground.

Springfield's defense made their presence known, laying out the QB four times. That dominant display was truly a team effort as four different players picked up one apiece.

Springfield's win bumped their record up to 10-1. As for Lexington, their victory bumped their record up to 8-3.

Lexington might still be hurting after the 31-7 loss they got from Springfield in their previous meeting back in November of 2019. Can the Tigers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
