Basketball Recap: Cornerstone Eagles vs. Altamont Knights

The Cornerstone Eagles lost against the Altamont Knights last Monday, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. Cornerstone fell to the Knights 57-51. Cornerstone has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

When it comes to explaining why Cornerstone lost, one person who can't be blamed is Abdul Lanier. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 16 points and 11 rebounds. Lanier is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down nine or more in the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was De'Marion Burks, who almost dropped a double-double on 11 points and nine assists.

Cornerstone has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-16 record this season. As for Altamont, the victory was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 15-9.

Cornerstone does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Altamont won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against the Knights at 7:30 p.m. on January 30th. Westminster School at Oak Mountain will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.
