Basketball Preview: Sweeny Bulldogs vs. Brazosport Exporters

Sweeny is 1-9 against the Exporters since February of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Sweeny Bulldogs will head out on the road to challenge the Brazosport Exporters at 7:30 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Sweeny won a close one the last time they played, but unfortunately they suffered a serious change of fortune on Friday. They took a serious blow against La Marque, falling 73-46.

Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Clinton Varner, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds. He has been hot recently, having posted nine or more rebounds the last four times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Kendrick Hernandez, who scored 14 points along with six steals.

Meanwhile, Brazosport's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their sixth straight loss. They fell 76-67 to Columbia. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.

Sweeny's loss dropped their record down to 15-15. As for Brazosport, their defeat was their seventh straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 3-21.

Sweeny strolled past the Exporters in their previous meeting back in January by a score of 63-45. The rematch might be a little tougher for Sweeny since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
