Softball Recap: Covington Snaps Five-Game Streak of Wins on the Road

Covington dropped their record down to 14-8 on Thursday, which also ended the team's five-game streak of wins on the road. They lost 11-1 to the Miami East Vikings. The contest marked the Buccs' lowest-scoring match so far this season.

Covington saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jayda McClure, who went 1-for-2 with one home run.

As for Miami East, they pushed their record up to 19-3 with the win, which was their 13th straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.3 runs over those games.

On Miami East's side, Jacqueline Kadel made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She struck out eight batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. Kadel has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

In other batting news, Jaycee Roeth was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and one double. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Whitni Enis was another key player, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base.

Coming up, Covington will host Fort Recovery at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Miami East, they will venture away from home to take on Newton Local at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
