After low-scoring totals in their previous three game, Lynchburg-Clay brought some dynamite into their most recent match. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 10-8 win over the West Union Dragons on Thursday. The Mustangs haven't had any issues with the Dragons recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.

Aubrey Roberts spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and four unearned) runs on nine hits and racked up six Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Sophia. Michael, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two runs, two RBI, and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024. Reese Ruble was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Lynchburg-Clay always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .556. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as West Union only posted an OBP of .344.

Lynchburg-Clay's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-3. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.7 runs over those games. As for West Union, they are on an 18-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-7.

Lynchburg-Clay wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 7-1 win against Zane Trace on the 19th. As for West Union, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 12-0 loss against Clay on the 19th.
