Baseball Game Preview: Cigarroa Toros vs. Mission Veterans Memorial Patriots

For the second straight game, Cigarroa will face off against Mission Veterans Memorial. The Toros will be playing at home against the Patriots at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.

Cigarroa is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 11 runs last Tuesday, they were much more limited against Mission Veterans Memorial on Tuesday. They fell 7-2 to the Patriots. The Toros haven't had much luck with the Patriots recently, as the team has come up short the last nine times they've met.

For Mission Veterans Memorial's part, Gabriel Cantu spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on five hits. Cantu has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Chris Ramos was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-3. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Jase Hernandez was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.

Mission Veterans Memorial has been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 12 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-5 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.8 runs over those games. As for Cigarroa, their loss dropped their record down to 4-14.
