Basketball Game Preview: Silver Creek Raptors vs. Monarch Coyotes

The Silver Creek Raptors will square off against the Monarch Coyotes at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Silver Creek came up into this matchup off a tough 30-point defeat on Tuesday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of Longmont by a score of 58-55 on Thursday. The Raptors have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, Monarch posted their closest victory since February 9, 2024 on Thursday. They skirted past Fairview 63-60. The Coyotes haven't had any issues with the Knights recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Silver Creek better keep an eye on Logan Laverty. He was instrumental in Monarch's win, going 13-for-25 to rack up 34 points in addition to six boards and three steals. Laverty is becoming a predictor of Monarch's success: when he posts at least 20 points the team is 7-3 (and 5-6 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Aden Clark, who posted five points and three steals.

Monarch was working as a unit and finished the game with 14 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Fairview only racked up eight assists.

Monarch's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-9. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.8 points over those games. As for Silver Creek, their loss dropped their record down to 9-11.
