Softball Recap: Mt. Pleasant Takes a Loss

If Mt. Pleasant was feeling good fresh off their 18-3 takedown of Overfelt two weeks ago, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Cardinals came up short against the Hill Falcons on Wednesday, falling 22-11. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Falcons this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 26-16 back in March.

Sandra Villegas made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 1-for-1 with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Brooklyn Flores, who got on base in three of her five plate appearances with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one run.

Mt. Pleasant has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last eight matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-9 record this season. As for Hill, their victory ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 4-8.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Mt. Pleasant will square off against rival Independence at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Hill is set to challenge their familiar foe Gunderson at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
