Dowagiac waltzed into their contest on Thursday with nine straight wins... but they left with ten. They put the hurt on the Coloma Comets with a sharp 12-1 win. The Chieftains might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 18 games by six runs or more this season.

Bree Campbell made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out ten over five innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in ten consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with three runs and two RBI. Those three runs gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Olivia McIntosh and Claire Hess did most of the damage at the plate: McIntosh went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, five RBI, and one run, while Hess went 3-for-4 with three runs, one double, and one RBI. Those five RBI gave McIntosh a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Bree Behnke, who went 2-for-3 with two runs.

Dowagiac hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least four batters in ten consecutive matches.

Dowagiac pushed their record up to 26-2 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.3 runs on average over those games. As for Coloma, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-3-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Dowagiac will square off against Paw Paw at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Coloma, they will venture away from home to face off against Martin at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday.
