Baseball Game Preview: Madison Warhawks vs. University City Centurions

For the second straight game, Madison will face off against University City. The Warhawks will challenge the Centurions at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Madison has ten straight wins, University City has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

While Madison's victory against University City wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Warhawks' pitcher stepped up to hand the Centurions a 1-0 shutout on Monday. The one-run effort marked the Warhawks' lowest-scoring game of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

The result came thanks to Jeremiah Jennings's shutout, as he gave up just three hits and racked up eight Ks. He has been consistent : he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time he's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Madison saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was William Barden, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base.

Madison's win was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-3. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.7 runs on average over those games. As for University City, their loss dropped their record down to 10-5.

University City's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Madison has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .440.
