Softball Recap: Broughton Takes a Loss

Broughton had lost eight straight at home, but on Monday they dropped down to 3-13 to make it nine. They lost 10-0 to the Leesville Road Pride. The Capitals were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Pride apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in March of 2025.

As for Leesville Road, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 7-9. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games.

For Leesville Road's part, Broughton's batters probably weren't too happy with Brooke Gleicher, who pitched a no hitter and racked up seven Ks (she gave up a single walk). Gleicher has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Sloan Decker, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, four runs, and two RBI. Those four runs gave her a new career-high. Maya Schpero was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one home run and two runs.

While Broughton had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
