Baseball Game Preview: Moscow Bears vs. Lakeland Hawks

For the second straight game, Moscow will face off against Lakeland. The Bears will host the Hawks at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Moscow will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.

For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Moscow and Lakeland meet (four straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Saturday. The Bears sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 victory over the Hawks. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Bears have posted since March 25th.

For Lakeland's part, Landon Puzio spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on three hits and racked up six Ks.

At the plate, Lakeland saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Dre Smith, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Moscow's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-6. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.5 runs over those games. As for Lakeland, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-10 record this season.
