Football Recap: St. Petersburg Comes Up Short

If St. Petersburg was feeling good fresh off their 21-0 takedown of Boca Ciega last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The St. Petersburg Green Devils had to suffer through a 52-14 loss at the hands of the Alonso Ravens. The defensive woes were uncharacteristic for the Green Devils, who until this contest were averaging 10.67 points allowed.

Although St. Petersburg took the loss, they still got scores from Tessa Ott and Madison Harting.

Gabby Werr continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Alonso, throwing for 305 yards and six touchdowns while completing 72.7% of her passes. Those 305 passing yards gave Werr a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Alyssa Trapani, who picked up 85 receiving yards and two touchdowns.

St. Petersburg moved to 5-1 with that loss, which also ended their five-game winning streak. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 29.4 points. As for Alonso, the win keeps them at an undefeated 6-0.

St. Petersburg has already played their next game, an 18-6 victory against Lecanto on the 8th. As for Alonso, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 20-13 defeat against Lennard on the 8th.
