Softball Game Preview: Weir Red Riders vs. Frankfort Falcons

The Weir Red Riders will face off against the Frankfort Falcons at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday. Weir's pitching crew has only allowed 2.9 runs per game this season, so Frankfort's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Weir heads in on the heels of a playoff matchup on Friday. They fell just short of Winfield by a score of 4-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Red Riders have suffered since April 5th.

Meanwhile, Frankfort faced Hoover in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Falcons narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Huskies 4-2.

Rylee Mangold spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on six hits and racked up ten Ks. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 5.2 strikeouts per game.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Avery Noel, who went 2-for-4 with one home run and three RBI.

Weir's loss dropped their record down to 28-9. As for Frankfort, their win bumped their record up to 28-1.
