Baseball Recap: Gunderson Snags Sixth Victory in Last Eight Games

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Gunderson ultimately got the result they hoped for on Thursday. They had just enough and edged out the Mt. Pleasant Cardinals 9-8. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Dominic Lake was incredible, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. He has become a key player for Gunderson: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 5-10 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Isaiah Chavez, who went 1-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double.

Gunderson has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-10 record this season. As for Mt. Pleasant, with the loss, they broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 13-6.

Coming up, Gunderson will take on Overfelt at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Grizzlies' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Royals have averaged an impressive 8.2 runs per game this season. As for Mt. Pleasant, they will challenge Independence at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Cardinals are facing the 76ers at the right time seeing as the 76ers are stuck on a 17-game losing streak.
