Basketball Recap: Central Comes Up Short in High-Profile Contest with Newton North

On Tuesday, Central faced Newton North in a battle between two of the state's top teams. The Central Golden Eagles might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 53-49 to the Newton North Tigers, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. The Golden Eagles have been going strong on the season, but this is now their second loss in a row.

Central's defeat dropped their record down to 20-7. As for Newton North, they pushed their record up to 26-1 with the win, which was their 14th straight at home dating back to last season.

Central does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Newton North, a feisty cat fight will be fought as Newton North Tigers duke it out with Franklin Panthers at 6:00 p.m. on Sunday. Franklin will roll in looking for their sixth straight victory, something Newton North surely won't give up without a fight.
