Basketball Game Preview: Calvary Saints vs. Bunker Hill Minutemen

The Calvary Saints are taking a road trip to take on the Bunker Hill Minutemen at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Calvary is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt wants to keep things rolling.

On Tuesday, Calvary took their game with ease, bagging a 75-31 victory over Tri-City. The matchup marked the Saints' most dominant win of the season so far.

Luke Blackford produced another solid effort shooting 5-for-6 from beyond the arc and dropping a double-double with 31 points and ten boards. The contest was his fourth in a row with at least 19 points. Another player making a difference was Brahm Crowder, who shot 63% from the field to rack up 11 points and six rebounds.

Calvary was working as a unit and finished the game with 15 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Tri-City only posted six.

Meanwhile, Bunker Hill posted their closest victory since January 24th on Monday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Edinburg 49-47. While the Minutemen didn't have the best season last year (they finished 11-20), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Bunker Hill's win came from a few key players Calvary will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Peter Jarden, who almost dropped a double-double with 18 points and nine boards. Jarden is also crushing it when it comes to steals: he's grabbed at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Cole Yates was another key player, almost dropping a double-double with 17 points and nine rebounds.

Calvary's record now sits at 7-0. As for Bunker Hill, their record is now 5-1.

Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Calvary has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 30.7 boards per game. However, it's not like Bunker Hill struggles in that department as they've been averaging 26.3 rebounds. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.

Calvary was able to grind out a solid victory over Bunker Hill in their previous meeting back in December of 2024, winning 52-40. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Saints since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
