Baseball Recap: Monson Mustangs vs. Mount Everett Regional Eagles

Monson had lost four straight on the road, but on Thursday they dropped their record down to 9-10 to make it five. They fell just short of the Mount Everett Regional Eagles by a score of 6-5. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Eagles this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 10-0 last Sunday.

As for Mount Everett Regional, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 14-7 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.9 runs on average over those games.

For Mount Everett Regional's part, Jacob Kreis was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Kreis has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one hit in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one double and one RBI.

In other batting news, Jonny Ireland was excellent, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and one run. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high.
