Baseball Recap: Oroville Takes a Loss

Oroville extended their losing streak to seven on Friday, dropping them down to 2-13. They came up short against the Live Oak Lions, falling 9-2. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Lions this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 15-5 on Tuesday.

Oroville saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ayden Morales, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases.

As for Live Oak, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 8-9. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games.

On Live Oak's side, Landon Epperson made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits (and only one walk). Epperson also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Live Oak is undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 5-9 otherwise. Epperson was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one run.

Oroville will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Corning at 4:00 p.m. As for Live Oak, they will take on Gridley at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Lions' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Bulldogs have averaged an impressive 7.2 runs per game this season.
