Baseball Recap: Auburn's Loss Ends Five-Game Winning Streak on the Road

Auburn was the 9-6 winner over Saraland when they last played one another back in March of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. The Auburn Tigers came up short against the Saraland Spartans on Saturday, falling 11-3. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Auburn got a good showing from Max Autrey, who pitched 3.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. Autrey also put up two walks, which were his first of the season.

At the plate, Auburn saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was JB Upton, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI and one double. Bryson Sheppard was another, scoring a run while going 1-for-2.

Auburn's loss ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 7-4. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.4 runs over those games. As for Saraland, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-2 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. A feisty cat fight will be fought as the Tigers duke it out with the Wildcats at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Enterprise is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10.2 runs per game this season. As for Saraland, they will challenge Milton at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
