Football Game Preview: Naples Golden Eagles vs. Fort Myers Green Wave

The Naples Golden Eagles will face off against the Fort Myers Green Wave at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Fort Myers took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Naples, who comes in off a win.

Naples barely beat Dunbar the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Golden Eagles' defense stepped up to hand the Tigers a 21-0 shutout on Friday. The result was nothing new for the Golden Eagles, who have now won four matchups by 21 points or more so far this season.

Jamar Jerome went supernova, rushing for 124 yards and three touchdowns on only 12 carries. Those three rushing touchdowns gave him a new career-high.

Another reason for the win was Naples' imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for eight sacks. The heavy lifting was done by Gabriel Juin and Tariq Arbyummi, who racked up four sacks between them. Juin also set a new season-high mark in total tackles with seven. Naples got some further help from Jelani Georges: he picked up a sack, forced one fumble, and made 11 total tackles.

Meanwhile, Fort Myers was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They were four points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 30-26 heartbreaker at the hands of North Fort Myers. The Green Wave were up 20 in the second, but they couldn't quite seal the deal.

The victory made it two in a row for Naples and bumps their season record up to 4-1-1. Those wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 0 points in those games. As for Fort Myers, their loss dropped their record down to 2-4.

Everything came up roses for Naples against Fort Myers in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, as the team secured a 42-6 victory. Do the Golden Eagles have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Green Wave turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
