Volleyball Recap: Yucaipa Starts Season with Loss on the Road

Yucaipa kicked off their season on the road on Monday and hit a couple of potholes. They came up short against the Chino Hills Huskies, falling 3-0. The Thunderbirds were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Huskies apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in August of 2024.

The final score came out to 25-12, 25-18, 25-16.

Leading Chino Hills to victory were Yanizza Gutierrez and Edith Leung. Gutierrez had 11 digs and two assists, while Leung had five digs and two aces. Gutierrez has been hot recently, having posted 11 or more digs the last three times she's played.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Yucaipa will square off against Xavier Prep on Wednesday. As for Chino Hills, they will challenge Bonita at 4:45 p.m. on Wednesday.
