Recap: Wootton Patriots vs. Damascus Hornets
There was early excitement for The Wootton Patriots after they claimed the first score on Thursday, but it was the Damascus Hornets who ended up claiming the real prize. Wootton took a 28-9 bruising from Damascus. Wootton has struggled against Damascus recently, as their game on Thursday was their third consecutive lost matchup.
Matthew Repie threw for 121 yards and a touchdown. Jake Kelley was his top target, picking up 68 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Wootton now has a losing record at 4-5. As for Damascus, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 7-2.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Wootton will take on Governor Thomas Johnson at 7:00 p.m. on November 3rd. Damascus will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Walkersville at 7:00 p.m. on November 10th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Maryland (Walkersville is ranked 57th, while Damascus is ranked 62nd).
