South Stokes gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Wednesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-3 win over the McMichael Phoenix. The score was all tied up 2-2 at the break, but the Sauras were the better team in the second half.

They hit McMichael with a three-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Ellie Parker (2), Mikayla Harger, and Diana Espino-Rodriguez.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. South Stokes will hit the road for the first time this season to square off against East Surry at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. As for McMichael, they will challenge Rockingham County at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
