Baseball Recap: Ripon Christian Comes Up Short

Ripon Christian lost against Linden back in April of 2022, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Ripon Christian Knights fell just short of the Linden Lions by a score of 3-2. The Knights have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Mateo Ceja was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he pitched six innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits. Ripon Christian is 4-1 when Ceja allowsone or fewer earned runs, but 1-2 otherwise.

At the plate, Ripon Christian saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Noah DeBruyn, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one RBI. Talen Tameling also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

Ripon Christian suffered their first road defeat, dropping their record down to 5-3. As for Linden, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-2.

Ripon Christian and Linden should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps California Rankings. Ripon Christian (ranked 186th) will meet Chavez (ranked 458th) at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. Ripon Christian is looking to tack on another W to their six-game streak on the road dating back to last season. Meanwhile, Linden will square off against Liberty Ranch at 6:30 p.m. on Friday up 164 places (97 vs. 261). Ripon Christian is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8 runs per game this season.
