Recap: Gilman Greyhounds vs. Loyola Blakefield Dons
The Gilman Greyhounds pushed their score all the way to 61 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They were the victim of a rough 84-61 loss at the hands of Loyola Blakefield. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Monday (56), Gilman still had to take the loss.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Loyola Blakefield to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jesse Legree, who scored 21 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Mason Ellison, who scored 20 points.
Gilman are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-8. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.5 points per game. As for Loyola Blakefield, their win ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 16-9.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Gilman will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against the Cardinals at 7:00 p.m. on February 2nd. As for Loyola Blakefield, they will face off against the Cougars at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Maryland (Our Lady of Mount Carmel is ranked 12th, while the Dons are ranked 22nd).
