Softball Game Preview: South Panola Tigers vs. Olive Branch Conquistadors

South Panola is 6-1 against Olive Branch since March of 2016 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. South Panola will host Olive Branch at 6:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (South Panola has eight straight victories, Olive Branch has 11 straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Last Friday, South Panola beat Tipton-Rosemark Academy 4-1.

Sadie Bright spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on four hits and racked up six Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances.

At the plate, South Panola's win was truly a team effort as six different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Nia Fondren, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

Olive Branch had taken Lake Cormorant down for two straight games at home, but that winning streak came to an end on Thursday. Olive Branch came up short against Lake Cormorant, falling 17-2.

Olive Branch's loss dropped their record down to 1-11. As for South Panola, their victory bumped their record up to 18-2.

Everything went South Panola's way against Olive Branch in their previous meeting on March 3rd, as South Panola made off with a 19-0 win. Will South Panola repeat their success, or does Olive Branch has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
