Soccer Game Preview: Henderson vs. Kilgore

Henderson is 1-9 against Kilgore since January of 2020 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Henderson Lions will be playing in front of their home fans against the Kilgore Bulldogs at 6:45 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Henderson took a loss when they played away from home last Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They put the hurt on Tatum with a sharp 7-1 victory. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 4-0.

Meanwhile, Kilgore waltzed into their match on Friday with four straight wins... but they left with five. Everything went their way against Carthage as they made off with a 4-1 win. Given Kilgore's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas soccer rankings (they are ranked 59th, while Carthage is ranked 644th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Kilgore's victory was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-1. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up one goal over those eight contests. As for Henderson, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-5 record this season.
