Baseball Recap: Fall River Snaps Four-Game Streak of Wins on the Road

If Fall River was feeling good fresh off their 8-2 takedown of Montello on Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Pirates fell just short of the Hilltoppers by a score of 9-8 on Thursday. The Pirates were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Hilltoppers earlier this season, when they won 8-2.

Ben Bolman put in work while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one RBI.

In other batting news, Ethan Stai was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with one home run, two stolen bases, and three RBI. That home run was his first of the season.

Fall River's loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 13-6. As for Montello, their victory bumped their record up to 7-12.

Looking ahead, Fall River will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Green Lake/Princeton at 5:00 p.m. As for Montello, they will head out on the road to square off against Rio at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
