Softball Recap: La Vernia Bears vs. Fredericksburg Billies

Despite a phenomenal run in the regular season, La Vernia couldn't carry that success into this playoff game. They took a 10-5 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Fredericksburg Billies on Saturday. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Bears, who until this game were averaging 4.06 runs allowed.

Makayla Soriano made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two runs. Another player making a difference was Emily Duncan, who went 2-for-4 with one run and one double.

This is the second loss in a row for La Vernia and nudges their season record down to 24-9. As for Fredericksburg, their win was their 12th straight at home, which pushed their record up to 22-9.
