Soccer Game Preview: Summerville vs. May River

The Summerville Green Wave will take on the May River Sharks at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Summerville has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the matchup with three straight losses, while May River will come in with eight straight victories.

Tuesday just wasn't the day for Summerville's offense. They lost 4-0 to Ashley Ridge on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, Summerville can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina soccer rankings (they are ranked 106th, while Ashley Ridge are ranked fourth).

Meanwhile, May River kept a clean sheet against Beaufort on Friday. They came out on top against the Eagles by a score of 2-0.

Timothy O'Gorman and Erik Robertello, Jr scored both of May River's goals, bringing their combined season tally to 18 goals.

May River's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 14-4. The road victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up one goal over those three games. As for Summerville, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-10-1.
