Football Game Preview: Homer Trojans vs. Vernon-Verona-Sherrill Red Devils

The Homer Trojans will square off against the Vernon-Verona-Sherrill Red Devils at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Homer will roll into the matchup after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up eight points two weeks ago, then bounced right back against Cortland on Friday. The Trojans blew past the Purple Tigers 58-18. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Trojans as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Vernon-Verona-Sherrill, who bounced back after a loss on the road two weeks ago. They simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat Chittenango 45-0. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Red Devils' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' New York football rankings (they are ranked 126th, while the Bears are ranked 349th).

Homer's victory bumped their record up to 5-3. As for Vernon-Verona-Sherrill, their win bumped their record up to 6-2.

Homer beat Vernon-Verona-Sherrill 62-49 in their previous matchup back in November of 2021. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Trojans since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
