Softball Recap: Kaneland Victorious

While Kaneland's victory against Aurora Central Catholic wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Knights had just enough and edged out the Chargers 5-4. The Knights haven't had any issues with the Chargers recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

Brynn Woods spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and three unearned) runs on eight hits and racked up 11 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in 14 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Lillyana Crawford and Maddie Anderson did most of the damage at the plate: Crawford went a perfect 3-for-3 with one double and one RBI, while Anderson went 1-for-3 with one home run. That home run marked the first that Anderson has launched this season. Another player making a difference was Ellie Peck, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Kaneland's record now sits at 17-12. As for Aurora Central Catholic, their defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 22-9.

Looking ahead, Kaneland will challenge North Boone at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Aurora Central Catholic, they will square off against Winnebago at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
