Basketball Game Preview: Loomis Wolves vs. North Central Knights

The Loomis Wolves and the North Central Knights will round out the year against one another at at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Loomis' favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last four contests.

Loomis fought the good fight in their overtime match against Southern Valley on Saturday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 72-66 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Eagles. While the Wolves didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Eagles 18-10 in the first quarter.

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Jace Schukar, who went 8 for 16 on his way to 21 points. Those 21 points gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Tyson Essex, who posted 15 points in addition to six assists and six boards.

Even though they lost, Loomis smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, North Central played a tough game on Saturday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They took a blow against Gregory, falling 61-23. The contest marked the Knights' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

This is the second loss in a row for North Central and nudges their season record down to 2-4. As for Loomis, their loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 2-5.
