Volleyball Recap: Norfolk Christian Comes Up Short

After flying high against Nandua on Tuesday, Norfolk Christian came back down to earth. The Ambassadors fell just short of the Richmond Christian Warriors by a score of 3-2 on Thursday. While the Ambassadors didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Warriors 25-19 in the first set.

Norfolk Christian took Richmond Christian into a fifth set but they suffered a heartbreaking two-point loss. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 19-25, 25-21, 25-16, 16-25, 15-13.

Among those leading the charge was Lucy Russell, who had seven digs and five aces. That's the most aces she has posted over her last five games. A'Kira Jefferson also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assist of the season.

The defeat snapped Norfolk Christian's winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 7-5 record. As for Richmond Christian, their victory was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-1.

Norfolk Christian wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 3-2 loss against North Cross on the 12th. As for Richmond Christian, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 3-0 win against Guardian Christian Academy on the 12th.
