Basketball Recap: Wando Snaps Six-Game Streak of Losses at Home

After losing to Berkeley the last time they met, Wando decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Wando Warriors came out on top in a nail-biter against the Berkeley Stags on Friday, sneaking past 57-55. The win was all the more spectacular given the Warriors' disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 166th, while the Stags are ranked 24th).

Wando had a senior duo take command as Tait Horine went 6 of 11 en route to 14 points and Corbin Martens posted nine points and six boards. That's the most rebounds Martens has posted since back in November of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaden Ealahan, who had six points and six boards.

Wando's victory ended a six-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-13. As for Berkeley, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 12-4 record this season.

Wando will head out on the road to take on Goose Creek at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Wando knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past three matchups -- so hopefully Goose Creek likes a good challenge. As for Berkeley, they will be playing at home against Stratford at 8:30 p.m. on Monday. Berkeley has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
