Baseball Game Preview: Conestoga Pioneers vs. Downingtown East Cougars

The Conestoga Pioneers will head out to take on the Downingtown East Cougars at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.

Conestoga is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 12 runs on Tuesday, they were much more limited against Central Bucks West on Wednesday. They took a 7-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Bucks.

Conestoga saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Chase Cherny, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one triple. Another was Cooper Banks Evers, who got on base in two of his three plate appearances with one stolen base and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Downingtown East unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They fell 9-4 to Garnet Valley on Wednesday.

Conestoga came out on top in a nail-biter against Downingtown East in their previous meeting back in March of 2024, sneaking past 4-2. The rematch might be a little tougher for Conestoga since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
