Baseball Recap: Pleasant Find Success

Pleasant barely beat Fairbanks the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Spartans never let the Panthers get on the board and left with an 8-0 win on Friday. The Spartans have beaten the Panthers the last four times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Panthers has come to flipping the script.

Jackson Payne was excellent, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI and one stolen base. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Avery Hamper, who went 1-for-5 with two runs and one RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Pleasant kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Fairbanks only managed four hits.

Pleasant's record now sits at 5-9. As for Fairbanks, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-11 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Pleasant will square off against Centerburg at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Fairbanks, they will face off against West Liberty-Salem at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
