Baseball Game Preview: Denver North Vikings vs. Eaglecrest Raptors

The Denver North Vikings will head out to square off against the Eaglecrest Raptors at 4:15 p.m. on Thursday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.

Thomas Jefferson hit Denver North with a five-run third inning on Tuesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Vikings took an 8-5 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Spartans. The Vikings have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Denver North saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Angel Gallegos, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

Meanwhile, Eaglecrest fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Cherry Creek on Wednesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Bruins by a score of 5-4. The Raptors haven't had much luck with the Bruins recently, as the team has come up short the last six times they've met.

Brian Moreland spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned (and two unearned) runs on eight hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one walk in eight consecutive appearances.

Eaglecrest now has a losing record of 7-8. As for Denver North, they now also have a losing record of 7-8.
